Lot 146: A Victorian Rosewood and Brass-Inlaid Dressing Case
A Victorian rosewood dressing case of rectangular form, the exterior featuring a figured grain with brass stringing and a central rectangular brass plaque to the lid. The front is fitted with a matching brass escutcheon. The interior is divided into multiple compartments, several of which contain cut glass bottles and jars with faceted glass stoppers. One compartment holds a rectangular white-metal lidded box with pierced scrollwork decoration and a blank central cartouche. The interior of the lid is lined with crushed blue velvet bordered by a decorative gilt-tooled leather trim.
