Lot 156: An Edwardian Sterling Silver Condiment Set by Deykin and Bodington
An Edwardian sterling silver condiment set comprising a hinged mustard pot and an open salt cellar, both of matching octagonal panelled design, accompanied by two cobalt blue glass liners and two matching sterling silver condiment spoons. The mustard pot features a hinged lid with a scrolled thumbpiece, a loop handle, and a gilt-washed interior. The open salt cellar similarly features an octagonal panelled body and a gilt-washed interior.
The condiment vessels are hallmarked on the side panels with the maker’s mark D&B within a rectangular cartouche for Deykin & Bodington, alongside the Birmingham assay marks of an anchor and lion passant, and the date letter A for 1900. The spoons are hallmarked on the reverse of the stems with the maker’s mark D&B, the Birmingham assay marks of an anchor and lion passant, and the date letter Z for 1924.
