Buyer's Premium:

This Indian decorative textile sculpture is crafted in the folk-art style associated with Rajasthan or Gujarat, likely dating to the mid-20th century. The piece is constructed from various patterned and appliquéd cotton fabrics, featuring a mustard-yellow base with paisley and floral motifs. A pink saddle-style panel is positioned over the back, embellished with traditional shisha (mirror) work and geometric embroidery. The sculpture is further decorated with silver-coloured metallic braid (gota patti) accents across the body and limbs, and finished with multi-coloured tassels on the ears, trunk, and flanks. The elephant is depicted in a standing posture with an elongated, upward-curving trunk. A small white adhesive label is present on the side. No maker’s marks or inscriptions are visible.
