Lot 615: A Trio of Indonesian Earthenware Vessels
This collection consists of three large-scale ethnographic earthenware vessels, characteristic of traditional pottery from the Lombok region of Indonesia. The group includes a bulbous water jug, a tall ovoid storage jar, and a wide shallow bowl. The water jug is designed with a thick, arching loop handle and features a decorative band of incised geometric zig-zag patterns around the shoulder. The ovoid jar is decorated with hand-incised foliate and scroll motifs and is finished with a woven rattan rim stitched through the ceramic edge. The matching shallow bowl also features a decorative woven rattan border to the flaring rim. All three pieces are constructed from hand-burnished terracotta with a reddish-brown slip finish. Each piece bears a contemporary white paper inventory label marked 1080.
