Lot 624: Large Cut Lead Crystal Footed Trumpet Form Centrepiece Bowl
A large, footed centrepiece bowl crafted from heavy cut lead crystal, featuring a distinctive flaring trumpet form. The vessel’s rim is finished with a scalloped fan-cut edge above a band of horizontal mitre cuts. The main body is decorated with a complex arrangement of alternating large 16-point star motifs and crossed mitre cuts forming diamond-shaped panels, which are intricately filled with fine strawberry diamond (fine hobnail) cutting. The lower section of the bowl body is finished with vertical prism or flute cuts. The piece is supported by a single spherical knop stem on a circular, flat-based foot featuring a radial rayed pattern to the underside. The crystal displays high clarity and significant light refraction consistent with high-quality lead glass manufacture. A white rectangular paper sticker with the handwritten number 13 is affixed to the exterior of the bowl.
