Lot 482: A Collection of British Theatrical Costume Uniform Items and Headgear
A collection of theatrical or film costume uniform items based on British police and Royal Navy patterns. The group comprises two cork-bodied Home Service pattern helmets, a navy blue wool tunic, and a peaked cap. The helmets are covered in black wool felt, with one retaining a chrome-plated spike finial. Both helmets have been modified for theatrical use with hand-painted light blue-grey symbols including squares, circular dots, and crescent shapes. The dark navy blue wool tunic features three brass-coloured buttons, each embossed with a crown at the 12 o’clock position and peripheral text. A dark-coloured peaked cap is also included. The items are accompanied by a handwritten label inscribed 9999 VINTAGE POLICE HELMETS / ROYAL NAVY TAIL COAT.
