Lot 558: Underwood No. 5 Standard Typewriter
An Underwood No. 5 standard manual typewriter, manufactured by the Underwood Typewriter Company during the early 20th century. The machine is constructed with a black-enamelled cast iron frame featuring an open-sided design. It possesses a four-bank keyboard with circular glass-topped keys and nickel-plated rims. The paper table displays the Underwood brand name in gold-toned lettering, and a metallic scale with numeric increments is situated above the type basket. The carriage assembly includes a black rubber platen and various manual control levers. A white auction label marked Lot 558 is affixed to the frame.
