Lot 593: A Collection of Four Novelty Earthenware Teapots including Architectural and Figural Teddy Bear Designs
A collection of four decorative earthenware novelty teapots, dating from the late 20th century. The collection features a variety of whimsical themes:
One teapot is modelled as a four-sided architectural clock tower, featuring a square base and a tapering roof lid with tiled decoration. The clock faces are hand-painted with Roman numerals I through XII, finished in a palette of brown and cream.
One teapot is formed as a two-storey cafe building, decorated with yellow walls, pink brickwork corners, and a blue-tiled roof lid with two chimneys. A sign above the entrance is inscribed CAFE.
One teapot is designed as a woven picnic basket with a moulded teddy bear figure and a red and white chequered cloth draped over the rim. The lid includes a strawberry finial.
One figural teapot depicts a lady in a red polka-dot skirt over a white ruffled petticoat. The lid is adorned with three teddy bear figures.
Each item is made from moulded earthenware with hand-painted polychrome decoration. No manufacturer marks are visible in the provided images.
