Lot 654: A Pair of Rococo Revival Cast Composite Putti Pedestal Bowls
A pair of decorative pedestal bowls or compotes featuring putti, executed in the Rococo revival style. The items are cast from a yellowish-tan composite material, likely resin or a bonded stone mixture, finished to resemble aged alabaster. While themed as a pair, the two pieces feature different base and stem configurations. One piece displays a cluster of four putti supporting a central fluted stem, set upon a lobed base decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves and shell motifs. The second piece features two putti seated on the shoulders of a central urn-form stem, mounted on a square architectural base with scrolling corner feet. Both items are topped with shallow, circular bowls with subtly flared rims and moulded exterior decoration. There are no visible maker’s marks, signatures, or factory stamps on either piece.
