Lot 838: A Collection of Small Hand-Knotted Tribal Rugs and Textile Mats
A collection of small-format tribal rugs and textile mats featuring various geometric designs characteristic of Persian and Central Asian weaving traditions, including Baluch and Turkoman styles. The lot includes a small hand-knotted rug with a dark madder red field, decorated with stylized geometric medallions and a deep blue border. Another rectangular mat features a pale pink and blue geometric pattern on a cream-coloured ground. The group also contains a longer rug section or runner fragment displaying a repeating latch-hook geometric motif in shades of red and brown. Additionally, there is a circular panelled textile piece with a fringed border, featuring pink and cream sections. These pieces are constructed from wool pile on wool or cotton foundations with visible white fringes. One rug retains a white adhesive auction label numbered 838.
