Lot 929: Antique Corona No. 3 Portable Folding Typewriter in Carrying Case
An antique Corona No. 3 portable folding typewriter, produced by the Corona Typewriter Company. This model features a distinctive folding mechanism where the carriage and typebar assembly hinge forward over the keyboard for transport and storage. The machine is presented in its original black textured carrying case with a leather-wrapped handle. The front nameplate is marked with the manufacturer name Corona in gold-toned script. The keyboard consists of three rows of circular, glass-covered keys with metal surrounds, showing characters including numerals 3 to 8 and letters E, R, T, Y, U, and I. The internal construction includes a semi-circular bank of steel typebars. A modern auction label from HCP Auctions South West for lot 929 is fixed to the upper frame.
