Lot 711: A Trio of late Victorian and Edwardian Ceramic Teapots
A trio of late 19th and early 20th-century ceramic teapots displaying varied decorative styles. The collection includes a bulbous teapot with a white glaze base, featuring hand-painted polychrome floral sprays and a blue and white geometric scroll-work border around the shoulder and lid. This piece is finished with a dark silver lustre glaze to the handle, spout, and finial. Also included is a squat, bulbous teapot with a crackle-glazed finish, decorated with a hand-painted outdoor scene depicting a man and a woman in 18th-century style attire, with the handle and spout finished in a dark glaze. The third item is a relief-moulded earthenware character teapot with a dark brown treacle glaze and silver lustre highlights, featuring a handle and spout designed to resemble sections of bamboo. A paper label with the handwritten number 4667 is adhered to the body of the treacle-glazed teapot.
