Lot 624A: Victorian Silver & Banded Carnelian Agate Brooch, Antique Black Enamel Pearl Earrings & Vintage Pearl Necklaces
An interesting group of antique and vintage jewellery comprising a large late Victorian oval brooch, set with an impressive polished banded agate/carnelian cabochon displaying striking concentric shades of deep red, orange, cream and burgundy, within a decorative scalloped silver mount and fitted with a long pin fastener, probably circa 1870–1890.
Also included is an attractive pair of antique-style drop earrings of geometric form, decorated with jet panels, applied gold-coloured detail and small pearl-set star motifs, fitted with screw-back fittings. Metal content untested.
Together with a selection of vintage pearl and pearl-effect necklaces, including examples with decorative metal clasps and a strand incorporating faceted clear beads and gilt-coloured spacers.
The large agate brooch has an old crack running through the stone, clearly visible from the front and reverse. Other items show general age-related wear. Pearl type, stones and metal content have not been laboratory tested unless specifically stated.
A visually attractive mixed jewellery lot with the Victorian silver-mounted banded agate brooch being of particular interest.
