Lot 180: A Vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Die-cast Preston Type Tramcar
A vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear die-cast Preston type tramcar, model number Y-15, finished in a red and cream livery for Paisley District Tramways. The model features a die-cast metal body with a white plastic roof, brown plastic interior seating, and curved staircases at each end. The sides are decorated with advertisements for Robertson’s marmalade featuring the text Put the taste on your toast with Robertson’s marmalade and a Golden Shred logo. The vehicle is mounted on a black plastic chassis with free-rolling metal wheels. The underside of the chassis is embossed with a rectangular Matchbox logo and carries the printed text Matchbox Int’l Ltd, Models of Yesteryear, Y-15, and Preston Type Tramcar. It also bears the copyright mark © 1987 and is marked as made in Macau. The model is presented in its original red cardboard window box with a clear plastic insert, which bears a white adhesive label from HCP Auctions South West reading Lot 180.
