Lot 217: A Vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Ford Model T OXO Advertising Van
A vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Ford Model T OXO advertising van, manufactured in England in the early 1980s. The vehicle features a die-cast metal body finished in bright red with a textured black plastic roof and a black plastic chassis. The exterior is decorated with large white and black OXO logos, complemented by the advertising slogan IT’S MEAT & DRINK TO YOU printed in white on a blue rectangular ground. A smaller graphic depicting a red and white OXO cube is present on the lower side panels. The model is detailed with silver-tone plastic components representing the radiator, headlamps, and front bumper, and it rides on black plastic wheels with silver-coloured spoke inserts and painted white-wall tyres. The black plastic base is embossed with the text Y21 MODELS OF YESTERYEAR, MADE IN ENGLAND, FORD MODEL ‘T’, © 1981 LESNEY PROD & CO LTD, and the MATCHBOX brand logo within a rectangular frame. The van is housed in a gold-coloured window display box, though this packaging is a mismatch as it is printed with the model number Y-5 and refers to a 1927 TALBOT. The clear plastic window bears a white adhesive rectangular label for HCP Auctions South West reading Lot 217.
