Lot 231: A Vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear 1928 Mercedes-Benz SS
A vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear 1928 Mercedes-Benz SS, finished in a two-tone silver and red colour scheme. The die-cast model features a silver-painted body mounted to a red metal chassis with integrated sweeping mudguards. The interior is fitted with black plastic seating and a matching textured black plastic hood. Decorative detailing includes two side-mounted spare tyres and brass-tone plastic components for the radiator, headlights, and horn. The red underside of the vehicle is embossed with several legible identifiers including MATCHBOX, MODELS OF YESTERYEAR № Y-16, 1928 MERCEDES BENZ ‘SS’, and LESNEY PROD. & Co LTD. It also bears a printed copyright date of © 1972 and a vertically oriented mark reading MADE IN ENGLAND. The model is presented with a plain brown cardboard storage box which bears a white typed adhesive label reading MATCHBOX YESTERYEAR, Y16 1928 MERCEDES SS, SILVER BODY RED MUDGUARDS, BLACK SEATS AND HOOD.
