Lot 236: A Vintage Ertl 1931 Hawkeye Tanker Bank in Publix Dairi-Fresh Livery
A vintage Ertl 1931 Hawkeye tanker bank in Publix Dairi-Fresh livery, produced as a promotional die-cast metal still bank. The vehicle features a white tanker body with a narrow coin slot to the top, decorated with red Dairi-Fresh lettering and green circular Publix logos. The green and white cab includes matching door logos and a black roof. The chassis is finished in green and white, mounted on red spoked wheels with rubber tyres embossed with the Ertl name. This model functions as a still bank with a plastic locking plate and turn-key mechanism located on the underside of the chassis for coin retrieval. The underside is moulded with the characters ERTL, DYERSVILLE IOWA 52040, and MADE IN U.S.A., alongside a four-digit stamped production code 0832. The bank is accompanied by its original white cardboard window box, which is printed with the model name, the manufacturer’s logo, and the number 7686.
