Lot 518: A Vintage W.H. Grindley Art Deco Ceramic Table Service in the Wendy Pattern
A vintage W.H. Grindley Art Deco ceramic table service in the Wendy pattern, produced in Staffordshire during the mid-20th century. The collection features a pale cream ground decorated with hand-painted polychrome floral sprays in shades of orange, blue, and yellow with green foliage. These motifs are set against a subtle blue-grey lattice or basketweave background pattern. Each piece is designed with a scalloped rim finished with gilded highlights. The tureens are of circular form with twin scroll handles and domed lids topped with moulded, hand-painted floral finials. The set includes two matching ceramic ladles with floral decoration to the bowls. The underside of the pieces bears a black printed backstamp featuring a stylized sailing ship icon above a central banner reading GRINDLEY with MADE IN ENGLAND below. A white adhesive auction label reading Lot 518 and a handwritten descriptive tag are also present.
