Lot 999: A Mid-Century Mahogany Piecrust Occasional Table

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £3

Estimated price: £3 - £5

Buyer's Premium:

A mid-century mahogany piecrust occasional table, constructed in the George II fashion. The table features a classic piecrust top with a raised and scalloped carved edge, supported by four slender cabriole legs. These legs are united by a shaped under-tier or stretcher that mirrors the scalloped form of the top surface. The construction appears to be solid mahogany throughout. Affixed to the top surface is a white rectangular adhesive auction label reading W&H Auctions Ltd Lot 999, alongside a second smaller square adhesive label featuring illegible characters. No other maker’s marks or stamps are visible on the exterior of the piece.

Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.

Condition report:

The table is in fair condition, exhibiting significant surface wear to the top. The upper surface displays numerous scratches, multiple white ring marks indicating moisture damage, and a prominent dark horizontal stain or burn mark (photo 1). Small chips and losses are visible to the delicate carved piecrust rim (photo 1). The cabriole legs and shaped under-tier show general scuffs and an accumulation of dust consistent with age and storage (photo 2). The piece would benefit from professional refinishing to the top surface.
