Lot 546: A Vintage West German Relief Moulded Beer Stein with Metal Lid
A vintage West German relief moulded beer stein with metal lid, dating from the mid-to-late 20th century. The glazed ceramic body features a high-relief polychrome scene depicting three figures in traditional Germanic dress, including a dirndl and lederhosen, set against a deep cobalt blue background. This central scene is enclosed by relief-moulded rope-effect borders. The handle is designed with a rustic, bark-like texture. The domed metal lid is embossed with foliate patterns and features a scalloped thumb lift attached to a functional hinge. The underside of the base bears an impressed three-line mark reading MADE IN / GERMANY / WEST. There is a further incised chevron-like mark positioned to the left of the text. A white paper auction label is attached to the body reading HCP Auctions South West / Lot 546 / www.hcpauctions.net, alongside a piece of white tape bearing the handwritten numerals 9249.
