Lot 1093: A Vintage Alan 80 Hiking Rucksack and Canvas Sail Bag
A vintage Alan 80 hiking rucksack and canvas sail bag, accompanied by a coordinating red synthetic stuff sack. The large capacity rucksack is constructed from red and black synthetic textile with multiple storage compartments, plastic compression buckles, and padded shoulder and waist straps. The front of the pack bears a printed white logo comprising a mountain peak icon above the text ALAN 80. The accompanying heavy-duty tan canvas storage bag features a drawstring neck and contains a folded sail made from cream sailcloth, finished with characteristic marine zigzag machine stitching and reinforced metal eyelets. A white rectangular card tag is attached to the sail bag, handwritten in black ink with the characters F. STEVENS, alongside a blue and white adhesive auction label printed with Lot 1093.
Condition report:
The canvas sail bag is heavily soiled with numerous dark stains, dust, and general surface wear across the exterior (photo 1). The interior sail shows light surface marks and minor foxing to the visible portions of the cream sailcloth (photo 2). The rucksack exhibits signs of moderate use including surface scuffing and dust, though all straps and buckles appear functional and intact (photo 3). The red stuff sack shows general surface wear consistent with outdoor use (photo 3).
