Lot 654: A Vintage Figural Cast Resin Cockerel Table Lamp
A vintage figural cast resin cockerel table lamp, featuring a detailed model of a rooster as the primary base element. The lamp is constructed with a cast resin body finished in a matte, off-white textured surface designed to simulate carved stone or plaster. The cockerel figure is shown with intricate layered plumage and an upright tail. A brass-toned metal armature is integrated into the figure, supporting a standard bulb holder and a coordinating hexagonal fabric shade in a cream-coloured finish. The electrical fittings consist of a white cord, an inline rocker switch, and a standard UK three-pin plug. A handwritten white card tag is attached reading 393. / LAMP / (RESIN), and a white adhesive auction label is present on the base reading HCP Auctions South West Lot 654. No manufacturer marks or signatures are visible on the object.
Condition report:
The cast resin body displays minor surface scuffs and dark marks, particularly within the textured areas of the feathering (photo 1). There is a thin black wire wrapped around the neck and chest of the rooster figure (photo 1). The brass-toned metal armature and the decorative wire wrap show signs of light surface oxidation and tarnish (photo 1). The fabric shade remains intact but exhibits light surface dust and minor age-related discolouration (photo 2). Electrical components appear modern but are sold as untested.
