Lot 670: An Assortment of Vintage Newton England and Daniel Hechter Gentleman's Wristwatches
An assortment of vintage Newton England and Daniel Hechter gentleman’s wristwatches, featuring four distinct styles with assorted leather straps. A chronograph by Newton England includes a blue dial marked NEWTON ENGLAND 649 with three sub-dials and a red central seconds hand, housed in a black-coated metal case with a unidirectional rotating bezel featuring white minute and tachymetre markings, fitted to a blue leather strap with a rose gold-tone buckle. The Daniel Hechter chronograph features a black textured dial bearing the name DANIEL HECHTER in white, three sub-dials, a yellow seconds hand, and a date window between the 4 and 5 o’clock markers, set in a silver-tone case with a black pebble-grain leather strap. A tonneau-cased watch finished in rose gold-tone metal has a silvered sunburst dial and stylized Arabic numerals, although the printed maker name is not legible, and is secured on a reddish-brown strap. The collection is completed by a silver-tone watch with a purple sunburst dial, white Arabic numerals, and a day-date window at the 3 o’clock position showing SUN 5, on a black leather strap.
Condition report:
The black-coated Newton watch shows visible wear to the finish on the bezel edges and case (photo 1). The Daniel Hechter watch exhibits light surface scratching to the metal case consistent with regular use (photo 3). The rose gold-tone tonneau-cased watch has significant scuffing and light scratching to the metal finish (photo 3). The black leather strap on the purple-dialled watch shows heavy delamination and peeling near the top lugs (photo 2). All movements are untested for functionality or timekeeping accuracy.
