Lot 681: An Assortment of Vintage Costume Jewellery Brooches and Accessories
An assortment of vintage costume jewellery brooches and accessories dating from the mid-20th century. The collection features a variety of styles, including a large silver-tone openwork brooch set with four oval faux pearls and clear round-cut rhinestones. A gold-tone floral brooch is decorated with a central cluster of pink round-cut rhinestones amidst textured metallic petals. The group also contains a gold-tone brooch depicting two red cold-painted enamel roses on a stem with textured foliage, and a silver-tone floral spray set with iridescent blue-green aurora borealis rhinestones. A rectangular geometric brooch features inlaid teal and green enamel patterns, suggesting an Egyptian Revival influence. Completing the assortment is a translucent orange moulded plastic bow brooch and two stylised carved wooden elements. The items are constructed from base metals with gold-tone and silver-tone plating, accented with glass stones, faux pearls, and enamel. No maker’s marks, signatures, or hallmarks are visible on the pieces shown.
Condition report:
The items are in used vintage condition. There is visible rubbing and minor loss to the red enamel on the rose brooch (photo 1). Light surface wear and fine scratches are present on the metal plating across several pieces. Minor dust and grime accumulation is visible in the recessed areas of the rhinestone settings (photo 1). The iridescent coating on the aurora borealis stones appears largely intact (photo 2). The condition and functionality of the pin backings and clasps cannot be verified as the reverses are not shown.
