Lot 1143: A Late Victorian Pine Glazed Corner Cupboard / Cabinet
A late Victorian pine glazed corner cupboard / cabinet of floor-standing form, finished in a cream-coloured paint with a contrasting natural wood interior. The piece is constructed with a single tall carcass featuring a projecting moulded cornice and a simple plinth base. The upper section contains a pair of full-length glazed doors opening to reveal two fixed pine shelves with decorative bowed front edges and a tongue-and-groove backboard. The lower section comprises a single cupboard door with a recessed panel featuring a decorative arched upper moulding. The cabinet is fitted with three turned wooden knobs and is hung on external metal barrel hinges. Several modern adhesive inventory labels are present on the frame and doors, including a white label with printed black text reading 1143, another reading 3437, one reading 935, and one on the upper right side reading 3032.

Condition report:
The cupboard shows general age-related wear and tear throughout. There are multiple chips, scuffs, and areas of loss to the painted finish, particularly noticeable along the edges, base, and hinges (photo 1 and 2). A small section of the moulded cornice is missing on the right-hand return (photo 2). The external hinges show signs of heavy over-painting. The interior has several modern plastic adhesive hooks attached to the backboards and shelf edges (photo 1 and 3).
