Lot 1145: A Vintage Driftwood Dolphin Wall Hanging / Sculpture
A vintage driftwood dolphin wall hanging / sculpture, depicting a leaping dolphin in an arched profile. The piece is constructed from multiple segments of weathered driftwood in varying shades of grey and tan. These individual pieces of wood, featuring naturally water-worn textures and organic shapes, are layered and secured to a dark-stained, arched wooden backing board to define the animal’s curved form. The construction exemplifies a rustic coastal aesthetic, utilising the natural silhouettes of salvaged timber to suggest movement. A white adhesive auction label is attached to the upper section, reading HCP Auctions South West, Lot 1145, and www.hcpauctions.net. A separate white label positioned behind the sculpture bears the handwritten digits 46675, and a blank brown cardboard tag is attached to the tail section with twine.

Condition report:
Visible natural weathering, deep splits, and structural fissures are present throughout the driftwood components, which are inherent to the nature of the material (photo 1). There are small gaps in the driftwood assembly where the dark-stained backing board is visible (photo 2). Surface dust has accumulated within the recessed areas of the construction (photo 3). The piece is fitted with inventory and auction labels as described (photo 1 and 4).
