Estimated price: £15 - £20

Buyer's Premium:

A vintage George VI chrome radiator grille surround for a Morris 10 motor car, dating from the late 1930s or 1940s. The radiator cowl is constructed from chrome-plated steel and features a vertical centre bar and a circular aperture at the base for a starting handle. The top of the surround bears a centrally mounted shield-shaped enamel badge featuring a printed mark reading MORRIS vertically on the left side and 10 at the bottom right. The badge displays a central crest of an ox crossing a ford in red and blue against a silver-tone ground. A secondary small circular badge is attached to the side of the central housing, featuring the characters 10 in silver-tone against a red circular background. The surround retains its original mounting holes along the inner flange and is typical of the British pre-war and early post-war automotive design produced by Morris Motors Ltd.

Condition report:

The radiator grille surround is in used barn-find condition, showing a significant accumulation of dust and cobwebs from long-term storage (photo 1). The chrome-plated surface exhibits extensive pitting, tarnish, and areas of surface corrosion across the entire frame (photo 1). The central enamel shield badge shows significant wear, including fading, surface scratching, and loss of detail to the printed crest (photo 2). The side badge is similarly worn with pitting to the metal surround (photo 3). No major structural bends or fractures are visible in the provided images.
