Lot 693: A Collection of Vintage Decorative Objects Including an IMCO Triplex Super Lighter
A collection of vintage decorative objects including an IMCO Triplex Super lighter. The group features a circular hand-carved wooden plaque depicting two stylized figures in profile with geometric border patterns. The pocket lighter is of cylindrical form, encased in brown leather and embossed with a circular mark reading IMCO TRIPLEX SUPER. Also included is a large iridescent abalone shell displaying natural growth lines and respiratory pores. A cylindrical brass coffee or spice grinder is present, featuring relief-moulded foliate decoration and a folding iron crank handle. The collection further contains a pair of vintage opera glasses with black leatherette barrels and brass hardware. Ephemera includes a Bank of England one pound note bearing the signature D. H. F. Somerset, a strand of white faux-pearl beads, a red and white pin reading Levi’s, and several etched copper discs. A white adhesive label reading HCP Auctions South West Lot 693 is attached to the wooden frame, and a small white sticker numbered 1080 is applied to the wooden plaque.
Condition report:
The items exhibit surface dust and tarnish to metal components consistent with age. Minor chipping is visible to the outer edge of the abalone shell (photo 5). The vintage opera glasses show surface wear and oxidation to the brass hardware (photo 2). Light abrasions and dust are present on the surface of the hand-carved wooden plaque (photo 4). The Bank of England pound note shows signs of circulation including creasing and light staining (photo 3).
