Lot 702: A Trio of Vintage Transfer-Printed English Cottage Garden Porcelain Plates
A trio of vintage transfer-printed English cottage garden porcelain plates, each decorated with a vibrant scene of a traditional rural dwelling. The first plate depicts a large thatched cottage with multiple gables and a stone-lined well situated in the foreground garden. The second plate features a timber-framed building with blue-painted woodwork, a gnarled tree to the right, and a small signpost inscribed with ‘NO’ above illegible characters. The third plate illustrates a smaller thatched cottage surrounded by a dense variety of colourful flora including hollyhocks and daisies. Each circular plate is finished with a fine gilded border at the rim. While signatures are visible in the lower corners of the transfer-printed artwork, they are not clearly legible as names. The reverse sides are not shown; therefore, no factory backstamps or pattern titles are identified.
Condition report:
The plates appear to be in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs (photos 1-4). The gilded rims appear intact with no significant rubbing or losses visible (photos 2-4).
