Lot 703: A Trio of Vintage British Glass Storage Jars including Kilner
A trio of vintage British glass storage jars, including a Kilner branded example. The collection features two medium cylindrical jars and one large jar with a square footprint and rounded corners. The first medium jar is fitted with an orange plastic screw-on rim lid securing a glass insert embossed with the name KILNER. The second medium jar is of similar form with a red plastic screw-on rim lid and a clear glass insert; the body of this jar features embossed lettering that is not clearly legible. The largest jar is fitted with a solid pink plastic screw-on lid and features the embossed text MADE IN ENGLAND on its side, though additional embossed characters above this mark are illegible. All three jars are constructed from clear moulded glass. Each piece bears a white rectangular adhesive label handwritten with the digits 9249, with the labels on the two smaller jars also including the characters R 8.
Condition report:
The jars are in good used condition with no visible chips or cracks to the glass bodies (photos 1 and 2). The interiors contain some residue and the exterior surfaces show a layer of dust, requiring cleaning (photo 3). The plastic lid rims and solid pink lid exhibit minor surface scuffing and wear consistent with domestic use but remain functional (photos 1 and 4).
