Lot 709: A Vintage Moroccan Pierced Silvered Metal Table Lamp
A vintage Moroccan pierced silvered metal table lamp, featuring a bulbous body tapering to a conical top surmounted by a pointed finial. The exterior is decorated with intricate hand-pierced geometric and stylized floral motifs, interspersed with embossed foliate scrollwork in the mashrabiya fashion. The metalwork is constructed from a silvered white metal, likely silver-plated brass, designed to cast ornamental light patterns when illuminated. The interior contains a single central light socket fitted with a white globe bulb, mounted to a circular metal base plate. A black power cord exits through a pre-drilled aperture in the base. No maker’s marks, hallmarks, or manufacturer labels are visible on the exterior or the interior base plate.
Condition report:
The lamp is in good overall condition. The exterior silvered metalwork shows light surface wear, minor tarnish, and dust accumulation in the recessed areas of the pierced design (photo 1). The interior base plate shows significant oxidation, spotting, and surface grime (photo 2). The electrical wiring is present but has not been tested for electrical safety; professional inspection and PAT testing are recommended prior to use.
