Lot 719: A Vintage Chinese Porcelain Tableware Collection in the Wan Shou Wu Jiang Pattern
A vintage Chinese porcelain tableware collection in the Wan Shou Wu Jiang pattern, comprising two deep bowls, five flat-bottomed spoons, and two rectangular spoon rests. The collection is decorated with a vibrant red ground overglaze enamel, featuring polychrome scrolling lotus vines and foliage. The edges are finished with a traditional geometric meander border in red, yellow, and turquoise enamels. Each spoon features a central red circular medallion containing the character ‘寿’ (Shou), signifying longevity, applied in overglaze enamel. The exterior of the bowls features medallions with the character ‘万’ (Wan), meaning ten thousand. One spoon carries a small white rectangular adhesive label with the handwritten number ’13’. The interiors of the bowls are plain white, currently shown containing folded paper napkins. No maker’s marks or reign marks are visible on the undersides of the items in the provided images.
Condition report:
The items are in good overall condition consistent with age and use. Minor surface dust and light grime are visible on the interiors of the bowls and the flat surfaces of the spoon rests (photo 1). There is minor rubbing and wear to the red enamel decoration along the edges of the rectangular spoon rests (photo 3). No chips, cracks, or significant restoration are apparent in the photographs.
