Lot 766: A Collection of Vintage Silver-Plated Copper and Brass Metalware
A collection of vintage silver-plated, copper and brass metalware, including a spirit-heated coffee percolator, a tea kettle, and decorative brass miniatures. The silver-plated coffee percolator / urn is of globular form, featuring twin scroll handles with black ebonised grips and a clear glass viewing dome set into the lid. It sits upon a four-legged stand incorporating a decorative pierced lattice-work gallery, although the spirit burner is not present. A white rectangular adhesive label is adhered to the upper body, handwritten with the characters 46758. The vintage domestic tea kettle features a red-painted copper body contrasted by a brass spout, lid, and handle frame. The arched handle is fitted with a turned wooden grip and a matching wooden lid knob. The decorative cast brass items include a miniature rocking chair with a spindle back and grid-patterned seat, and an eagle figurine with outstretched wings perched on a globe base.
Condition report:
The silver-plated percolator shows heavy tarnish and surface oxidation throughout the body and stand (photo 1). The spirit burner is missing from the base of the stand (photo 3). The red coating on the kettle shows significant wear with scratches and paint loss revealing the metal beneath (photo 1). Heavy oxidation and green verdigris are visible on the brass spout and handle frame (photo 3). The brass chair and eagle figurines display a dull, aged patina with minor surface oxidation and dust in the recessed casting details (photo 2).
