Lot 825: A Collection of Vintage Vinyl LP Records including Carmen Amaya and Johnny Cash
A collection of vintage vinyl LP records including Carmen Amaya and Johnny Cash, encompassing a variety of genres from the mid-20th century including flamenco, doo-wop, and country. The lot includes the Carmen Amaya album Queen of the Gypsies: The Rhythms of Carmen Amaya, released on the Brunswick label with the catalogue number LAT 8150. This sleeve features a white adhesive auction sticker reading HCP Auctions South West Lot 825 and a typed paper strip reading SIDE 1 – TRACK 1 QUEEN OF THE GYPSIES. The collection further includes Johnny Cash – At Folsom Prison on the CBS label, The Platters – Only You on the Polydor Special label, and a Various Artists compilation Surfin’ U.S.A. on the Pickwick StarTrax label. Other visible titles include The Drifters – Golden Hits on the Atlantic label, The Three Degrees, and Sound of Man – One Number One Hits. The records are standard 12-inch LPs in printed cardboard sleeves, several of which bear pink adhesive price labels reading £1, £2, £5, £9, and £20.
Condition report:
The picture sleeves are in generally good condition, displaying age-related ring wear, edge scuffing, and light creasing at the corners (photo 1). Several covers have adhesive price stickers and handwritten or typed labels attached to the front (photo 2). The Carmen Amaya sleeve is held within a protective polythene outer. The vinyl discs have not been removed from their sleeves for visual inspection or playback testing and are sold as seen.
