Lot 838: A Collection of Vintage Musical Theatre and Stage Show Vinyl LP Records
A collection of vintage musical theatre and stage show vinyl LP records, predominantly featuring soundtracks and cast recordings from the 1970s and 1980s. The lot comprises approximately twelve albums housed in their original printed card sleeves. Notable titles include Godspell: Excerpts from the Musical Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew performed by The Avenue Singers & Chorus on the Avenue label, and a Pickwick Records stereo recording of Evita, catalogue number SHM 929, featuring The Sounds International Orchestra conducted by Ramon Boales. The Godspell cover displays a glossy laminated finish with a printed stylised a logo inside a square above the word avenue. The Evita sleeve bears a printed Pickwick records logo and SHM 929 STEREO in the upper corner. Several covers have white adhesive auction lot stickers reading HCP Auctions South West Lot 838 www.hcpauctions.net and a small white retail label with handwritten characters 46510. A compilation album is visible featuring Eleanor Powell, Allan Jones, and Betty Hutton, alongside various other orchestral recordings including a spine for a Beethoven release and a record titled Homemade Favourites.
Condition report:
The card sleeves exhibit typical signs of age and storage, including corner bumping, edge wear, and surface rubbing (photo 1). The laminated finish on the Godspell sleeve shows light surface scuffing (photo 1). Multiple sleeves have adhesive auction and retail labels attached to the front faces (photos 1 and 2). The vinyl discs have not been removed from the sleeves for individual inspection; therefore, the physical condition and playability of the media are unverified. Sleeves grade as Good to Very Good; media is ungraded. Sold as seen.
