Lot 974: A Vintage Mahogany Twin Pedestal Desk
A vintage mahogany twin pedestal desk featuring a rectangular top inset with a red leather writing surface, decorated with a gilt-tooled border. The desk is configured with nine drawers, comprising a central long frieze drawer flanked by two shorter drawers, with three additional drawers arranged vertically in each pedestal. Each drawer is fitted with brass swan-neck handles and a central escutcheon. The pedestals are raised on bracket-style feet. A small white rectangular adhesive label is affixed to the centre-front edge of the top, printed with the digits 974.

Condition report:
The desk shows significant signs of age and use. There is widespread scuffing, scratching, and wear to the wooden surfaces, most notably along the front edges of the top and the lower sections of the pedestals. The plinth bases and bracket feet show substantial loss of finish, chipping, and dirt accumulation. The red leather writing surface exhibits general wear, fading, and some loss of definition to the gilt tooling. The brass hardware shows a matured patina with some surface oxidation.
