Lot 336: Two Decorative Circular Lidded Storage Boxes
Two decorative circular lidded storage boxes of differing construction and finish. One large, deep circular lidded box is constructed from heavy pasteboard, its exterior covered in cream-coloured paper printed with a repeating pattern of topiary trees in terracotta pots in shades of blue-green, orange, and brown. This box is fitted with a brown twisted cord carrying handle threaded through the lid and body. The second circular lidded box is of wood construction, featuring a hand-painted floral still life on the lid with yellow and orange-red flowers against a dark ground, finished with a glossy lacquer. The body of this wooden box is finished in a reddish-brown wood grain, accented with two rows of brass-headed studs set into dark trim bands. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on the exterior surfaces of either item.
