Lot 492: An Assortment of Decorative and Functional Ceramic Tablewares Including Royal Worcester and Paragon
An assortment of ceramic tablewares comprising pieces from various European manufacturers. The collection includes a fine bone china teacup and saucer set in the Elizabeth Rose pattern. Both pieces are decorated with transfer-printed pink rose sprays and feature scalloped rims with gold-coloured sponge-decorated edges. The underside of the saucer bears a printed pink crown mark reading BY APPOINTMENT H.M. THE QUEEN CHINA POTTERS PARAGON CHINA LTD. STOKE-ON-TRENT Elizabeth Rose MADE IN ENGLAND REG D L/L.
A Royal Worcester flameproof porcelain lidded tureen is decorated in the Evesham pattern with motifs of asparagus, peaches, and blackberries. It features gilt-finished handles and rims. The base is marked with a circular printed mark reading ROYAL WORCESTER above a W and FLAMEPROOF PORCELAIN, with additional text stating ENGLAND OVEN TO TABLE WARE DISHWASHER PROOF, the pattern name Evesham, Shape 23, and Size 6.
A creamer and sugar bowl set is finished in a pale celadon-green glaze with stylized leaf motifs and an all-over intentional crackle finish. The base carries a printed mark with a monogram of the letters A and L above the words DENMARK and NILS.
The assortment also contains a novelty teapot in the form of a house, decorated with a golfing scene titled A Round of Golf on the body and featuring a clock-decorated turret finial. Completing the collection is a yellow teacup and saucer set with a hammered or dimpled surface texture and gold-coloured rims.
