Lot 518: Two Royal Navy Officer Double-Breasted Uniform Jackets Including Captain Rank With World War Service Ribbon Bars
Two British Royal Navy officer’s double-breasted wool uniform jackets dating from the mid-20th century. The first jacket indicates the rank of Captain, featuring four gold lace rings to each cuff and removable shoulder boards with four gold braid stripes. This garment is fitted with medal ribbon bars indicating service in both World Wars, including ribbons for the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, and Victory Medal, alongside Second World War ribbons such as the 1939-45 Star and Atlantic Star. One ribbon features a silver-tone rosette. The second jacket is for an Engineering branch officer, featuring a single gold lace ring on the cuff with a purple cloth background. Both jackets are fitted with standard Royal Navy pattern gold-tone buttons featuring a crowned anchor motif within a rope border. One jacket is held on a wooden hanger bearing the printed text ALAMINO, SURREY. A single grey plastic button is visible on the interior sleeve lining of one jacket. No manufacturer or tailor labels are legible on the garments.
