Lot 627: A Group of Glazed Ceramic Wares Including a Novelty Vintage Car Dish and Foliate Tableware Inc Sylvac
A group of four glazed earthenware pieces comprising a novelty dish and three pieces of foliate tableware. The primary piece is a novelty dish or planter modelled in the form of an early 20th-century open-top vintage motor car. The car features a green body, pink mudguards and lamps, a cream-coloured folded top, and black tyres with copper-toned spoked wheels. The piece is finished with gilt-painted highlights along the trim and chassis. The collection includes two green foliate pieces under a matching mid-green glaze: a rounded leaf-shaped dish with a central circular well and a small creamer jug with relief-moulded foliate decoration. The fourth piece is an elongated leaf-shaped dish with detailed relief-moulded veins under a yellow-ochre glaze. No maker’s marks, signatures, or backstamps are visible on the base or body of any item (photo 2).
