Lot 896: A Mid-20th Century British Utility Scheme Sapele Veneered Twin Pedestal Desk
A British mid-20th-century twin-pedestal desk, manufactured under the government Utility furniture scheme. The desk is constructed with sapele-veneered wood, featuring a rectangular plain wood top with rounded waterfall corners. The configuration consists of two pedestals, each housing three drawers, and a single central drawer positioned above the kneehole. All drawers are fitted with curved, D-shaped metal pull handles. The interior base of one drawer features a circular ink stamp. The characters CC41 are clearly legible in the centre of the stamp. A ring of text follows the perimeter of the circle, though these characters are too faint to be read as a name or date.
