Lot 998: A Vintage Mahogany Longcase Clock with Moon Phase and Multi-dial Complications
A vintage mahogany longcase clock featuring a mechanical three-weight movement and multiple complications. The wood case is finished in a dark mahogany tone, featuring a break-arch hood, a long glazed trunk door, and a stepped plinth base decorated with boxwood stringing inlay. The composite dial consists of a silvered chapter ring with black Roman numerals and an outer minute track, framed by ornate cast metal spandrels. The centre of the dial contains three gilded subdials for the day of the week, the date, and the month. A rotating moon phase disc is situated within the arch, decorated with a star field and hemispherical maps, calibrated for the lunar cycle. The clock is powered by a chain-driven mechanical movement with three brass-finished weights and a pendulum. No maker’s name or manufacturer marks are legible on the dial or visible portions of the movement.
