Lot 1048: Bert Maile and Theukken A Collection of Framed Paintings and Prints (Signed)
A collection of framed paintings and prints by Bert Maile and Theukken, featuring a variety of maritime, landscape and urban subjects. The group includes a large horizontal painting depicting beached fishing vessels on a shore, signed in the lower left corner in a lowercase script reading ‘bert maile’. Also featured is a large-scale limited edition print of a colourful coastal village and harbour with boats, which is inscribed in pencil to the lower left margin ‘193/750’ followed by a signature that reads ‘Theukken’. A trio of small impressionistic paintings of European street scenes are presented in wide, bevelled gilt-toned frames; these include a scene with a cafe featuring red-and-white striped awnings and a city view with a distant church spire. The collection further contains a maritime painting of tall ships in battle and a partially visible work with a spotted abstract motif. The works are variously housed in cream, gilt and white wooden frames, with the reverse of one smaller work showing a plain plywood backing and a metal hanging loop.
