Lot 129: A Large Vintage Glazed Earthenware French Style Confit Pot
A large glazed earthenware vessel produced in the style of traditional French provincial confit pottery. The piece features an ovoid body tapering to a circular foot, a wide flared rim, and two small applied loop handles at the shoulders. The vessel is finished with a uniform, honey-coloured ochre glaze applied to both the interior and exterior surfaces. There are no slip or cobalt blue decorative elements present. No maker’s marks, factory stamps, or incised characters are visible on the body or rim. A contemporary paper tag is attached to the rim which reads: 3442. LARGE VINTAGE GLAZED FRENCH STYLE POT/PLANTER CONFIT RES £15.
Condition report:
The pot is in good vintage condition. There are minor glaze imperfections, such as pitting and small dark inclusions, which are characteristic of this type of earthenware. Some surface staining and evidence of use are visible, particularly around the lower body and handles. No major cracks or large chips are evident from the provided angles.
