Start price: £15

Estimated price: £20

Buyer's Premium:

A substantial fireside bucket or pail constructed from spun brass, featuring a cylindrical form with a slightly tapered body. The interior and base exhibit concentric turning marks indicative of the spinning process. The vessel is fitted with a heavy-gauge wrought iron swing handle, which is attached to the rim via large iron rivets. The base consists of a separate plate secured with six flush-set rivets. A stamped 00 mark is visible near the interior rim, which served as a size or capacity designation during manufacture. This specific construction method and marking are characteristic of the buckets produced by the Waterbury Brass Company under H.W. Hayden’s 1851 patent.

Condition report:

The item is in good structural condition with a deep, unpolished patina and tarnish throughout. There are minor surface scratches and small indentations consistent with age and domestic utility.
