A rectangular cast iron letter plate produced in the Victorian or Edwardian style. The piece features a decorative raised border with a repeating foliate and scrolled motif. The construction consists of a fixed outer frame housing a central hinged flap. The item exhibits a dark, weathered patina consistent with long-term external exposure. No manufacturer marks or pattern numbers are visible on the casting.
Condition report:
The item is in used antique condition. The cast details remain well-defined beneath a heavy patina and surface grime. There is visible oxidation and light pitting on the reverse surfaces and around the hinge mechanism. The hinge is intact but requires cleaning or lubrication to ensure smooth movement. Mounting bolts and original fixings are not included.
