Lot 575: A Trio of Mid-20th Century International Costume Dolls
A trio of mid-20th century international costume dolls, comprising one Japanese figure and two Indian figures. Each doll is constructed with molded composition or vinyl heads and hands, featuring fixed, painted eyes and facial details. The Japanese doll is dressed in a peach-coloured floral print kimono with a contrasting brown and white obi sash, featuring a black synthetic wig adorned with a silver-tone decorative comb. The two Indian dolls feature black synthetic hair and painted bindis; one is dressed in a tan-coloured sari with a dark patterned border and a green faux-leather handbag, while the other is dressed in a saffron-orange sari with gold-tone trim and a coordinating tan handbag. All three dolls are mounted on rectangular black display bases and include various items of gold-tone costume jewellery such as necklaces and bangles.
Height: 25cm to 30cm.
Condition report:
The dolls are in good vintage condition, showing light surface dust and minor wear consistent with age. The silver-tone hair ornament on the Japanese doll is slightly loose. There are no obvious signs of major repair or restoration.
