Lot 618: A Pair of English Art Nouveau Style Leaded Stained Glass Architectural Panels
A pair of rectangular architectural leaded glass panels in the Art Nouveau style. Each panel features a matching stylized floral motif at the centre, constructed with a central teardrop-shaped piece of dark ruby glass flanked by two green glass leaves. A curved section of cobalt blue glass is situated at the base of each design. These coloured elements are set within a field of rectangular clear glass panes using traditional lead cames. The panels are characteristic of British domestic architectural glass from the late 19th to early 20th century, typically used in transom windows or door panels. A modern auction lot sticker numbered 618 is attached to the edge of one panel. No maker marks, signatures, or inscriptions are present on the glass or leadwork.
Height: Approximately 40cm – 50cm.
Condition report:
The panels are in fair antique condition. The lead cames exhibit age-related oxidation and minor surface wear. There is accumulated dirt and residue across the glass surfaces. Bidders should note the potential for minor hairline cracks consistent with salvaged architectural glass of this period.
