Lot 619: An Assortment of Vintage Optical and Scientific Instruments including a Monocular Microscope
This lot features a collection of mid-20th-century optical and scientific equipment. The primary instrument is a monocular compound microscope constructed with a cast metal frame finished in a grey textured enamel. The microscope is designed with a rectangular base, a fixed stage with specimen clips, a triple-lens revolving nosepiece, and a slanted ocular tube. The collection also contains a handheld spotting scope with a grey metal body and black ocular and objective housings. Accessories include a green cardboard box containing prepared slides, marked with the S N S Opticraft logo and indicating a set of 60 slides. Several loose optical components are present, including multiple eyepieces, a right-angle diagonal prism attachment, and brass-coloured protective tubes, alongside a long grey-finished metal extension tube. Additionally, the lot includes a vintage kitchen grater attachment in its original yellow cardboard box, featuring a white plastic frame and a cylindrical metal grating drum.
Condition report:
The items are in used condition with surface wear, scuffs, and signs of oxidation consistent with age and handling. The mechanical operation of the microscope focusing rack and the optical integrity of the lenses have not been tested. The completeness of the lens sets and accessories is unverified. The cardboard packaging for the slides and the kitchen accessory shows significant shelf wear, staining, and structural damage.
