Lot 251: An Assortment of Antique and Vintage Furniture Hardware, Turned Wood Components, and Sinuous Upholstery Springs
This lot consists of a diverse collection of salvaged furniture hardware and upholstery supplies. The assortment includes numerous turned wooden knobs in various profiles, several white porcelain doorknobs, and brass drawer pulls. Also present is a large, curved wooden furniture or architectural support element and decorative finials. One piece of cabinet hardware is contained within its original Vac Pak Cabinetware retail packaging. The lot further includes a large, continuous coil of steel sinuous zig-zag springs, commonly referred to as no-sag springs, used in mid-century and modern seating construction. A cardboard box within the lot bears the name Martins and a partial UK telephone number with the 01622 area code. The components range in style from the Victorian period through to the mid-20th century.
Condition report:
The items are offered in as found condition. Significant surface rust and oxidation are present on the steel upholstery springs and the metal spindles of the doorknobs. The wooden elements show a heavy patina, accumulated dust, and wear consistent with age and long-term storage. Porcelain components appear generally intact but require cleaning. This is a bulk lot of salvaged hardware and individual sets may be incomplete.
